Chemical management in Serbia: online training on September 10
06/09/2026 | By Ivan Milenković
Managing chemicals in Serbia today takes more than knowing the regulations. It also takes a system that puts those regulations into practice. That is the subject of the online training I’m giving on September 10, 2026. The training is organized by the Balkan Council for Sustainable Development and Education. It runs in two 90-minute blocks, live on Zoom.
Two blocks: from regulations to a digital system
The training is split into two connected parts. The first block covers the regulatory framework and legal obligations. The second shows how to turn those obligations into a well-organized digital system. The goal is practical: participants leave with concrete steps for their own company.
Block one: the regulatory framework and obligations
The first part starts from the Law on Chemicals. We cover entry in the Register of Chemicals and the role of the chemicals adviser. Particular emphasis is placed on safety data sheets (SDS): obtaining them, keeping them up to date and managing the documentation.
We also cover inspection. I explain what inspectors check and how to prepare. Finally, we go through the latest changes in practice, including the amendments to the list of classified substances.
Block two: digitalizing chemical management
Regulations change constantly, and tracking them by hand is no longer sustainable. The second block shows what digital chemical management looks like.
We talk about the chemical inventory and a central register. We cover managing safety data sheets and tracking classification changes. We also add the topics that are still on their way: the digital product passport and the digital label. The European Union increasingly requires machine-readable formats, and a PDF document will soon no longer be enough.
Working on two tracks
Companies that do business with the EU work on two tracks. One is the national framework. The other is the EU framework, REACH and CLP. The two systems are linked, but they don’t change at the same pace. The training shows how to keep track of both at once.
Who the training is for
The training is intended for importers, distributors and manufacturers of chemicals. It will also be useful for compliance officers and chemicals advisers. No prior knowledge is required: we go from the basics to practical application.
Registration and schedule
The training takes place on September 10, 2026, starting at 10:00. It is held live on Zoom. Registration is handled by the Balkan Council for Sustainable Development and Education.
